Spring 1994--Wait Until Dark:  Frederick Knott's thriller about a blind woman terrorized by three strangers.

 

Fall 1994--Our Town:  Thornton Wilder's classic about life in Grover's Corner.

 

Spring 1995--God's Favorite: by Neil Simon, a modern day retelling of the Old Testament's book of Job!

 

Fall 1995--Deathtrap:  Ira Levin's deliciously twisted thriller about a playwright who may or may not be plotting murder.

 

Spring 1996--The Rainmaker:  The story of Bill Starbuck, a stranger who rides into town claiming he can make rain.

 

Fall 1996--The Diary of Anne Frank:  The Smokestack performed this classic about a little girl in the holocaust...in the school's cafeteria!

 

Spring 1997—Godspell:  The first Broadway musical in school's history...the story of Jesus set to song & dance.

 

Fall 1997--The Crucible:  Arthur Miller's classic about the Salem witchcraft trails opened the new Wheeler auditorium.

 

Spring 1998--Catfish Moon:  The first performance of this new hit show ever performed in a Tennessee high school.

 

Fall 1998-- Steel Magnolias:   The modern classic set in "Truvy's Beauty Shop" brought the audience to tears.

 

Spring 1999--Butterflies are Free:  The 1960s came alive in the story of a blind boy who meets up with a free spirited "hippy" girl.

 

Fall 1999—Frankenstein:  Mary Shelley's epic about a creature's search for his maker and his reason for existence.

 

Spring 2000--Man of LaMancha:  The story of Don Quixote set to wonderful song, including "The Impossible Dream".

 

Fall 2000-- A Christmas Carol:  Scrooge met his match in this story of redemption on Christmas Eve.

 

Spring 2001--Proposals: Neil Simon's little known gem about a family's last vacation together.

 

Fall 2001--A Few Good Men:  The Tom Cruise/Jack Nicholson movie came to life at CHS.

 

Spring 2002--The Goodbye Girl:  More Neil Simon, this time a musical based on the Academy Award winning film.

 

Fall 2002--The Boys Next Door:  A hilarious and heartwarming comedy...about the mentally challenged!

 

Spring 2003--The Nerd: Everybody's worst nightmare, a dinner guest...who just won't leave!

 

Fall 2003--Wait Until Dark:  The theatre group's 10th anniversary season began with the remake of their first ever show.

 

Spring 2004-Godspell: ...and ended with a redo of its first musical!

 

Fall 2004--Pink: the 80s Remembered:  A tribute to that crazy decade that produced spandex and Madonna.

 

Spring 2005--Rumors:  Neil Simon's whacky slapstick classic about a dinner party gone terribly wrong.

 

Fall 2005--To Kill a Mockingbird:  Harper Lee's stunning masterpiece about racial unrest in the South.

 

Spring 2006--Footloose!:  The musical based on the hit Kevin Bacon film.

 

Fall 2006--It's a Wonderful Life:  George Bailey and the residents of Bedford Falls came to life in the holiday classic.

 

Spring 2007--The Club:  A groups of teens come together to understand each other better in this comedy/drama.

 

Fall 2007--The Crucible:  The Smokestack remade its first Wheeler auditorium production to celebrate 10 years in the building.

 

Spring 2008—Grease:  The drama club embarked on its most adventurous project yet, a collaboration with Eagleville High School from Rutherford County.  The musical, Grease, was a tremendous success, with six performances including four consecutive sold out night shows.  All in all, more than 1800 people saw the play.
