Welcome to Bedford County Schools' new website! We are presently under construction in Bedford County. We are building two new schools that will be open in the fall of 2009 as well as constructing this new website. Please bear with us as we add information and get all of our links working again.
Bedford County lies in rural Middle Tennessee, approximately 55 miles southeast of Nashville, 25 miles south of Murfreesboro, and 55 miles north of Huntsville, Alabama. Shelbyville, our county seat, is the host of the annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, and the rolling hills of Bedford County are dotted with beautiful horse farms.
The Bedford County Department of Education presently consists of 11 schools (soon to be 13), a vocational annex, Bedford County Learning Academy which houses an alternative program to learning, and a Central Office. These schools serve approximately 7650 students and are staffed with approximately 950 employees.
Bedford County also has an Adult Learning Center, Tennessee Technology Center, and will soon be the site of MTSU South, a regional campus for Middle Tennessee State University. Shelbyville is located approximately 20 miles from Motlow Community College in Moore County.
