Trips

Students taking trips and going out of town are required to have their parents contact the school's administration in order t have their absences excused. All absences without prior notification will not be excused.

Transfers

Students who transfer to schools within the Bedford County School System but do not change their residence will be required to have a transfer form. The form must be signed by the principals of both schools.

Any student may transfer once during the first ten days of the school year without changing his/her residence. The student will not be allowed to return to his first school until the beginning of the next year.

New students that transfer to Harris Middle School will attend a new student orientation to aid in their acclimation to this school.

Visitors

Because of the possibility of school and classroom disturbance, students are not allowed to have visitors during the school day. Exceptions to this policy must be cleared in advance through the principal's office. Any parent, other family members, or visitors entering the school must report to the office.

Truancy

  1. Unauthorized absence from school is considered truancy and will be treated as such.
  2. This includes absence from any class, homeroom, or activity during the school day for which the student is scheduled. It also includes any after school disciplinary session which the student has been directed to attend.
  3. Disciplinary action will be taken in such cases.
  4. Continued violation may lead to suspension from school.

Student Withdrawal

Students leaving this school during the school term for any reason must withdraw properly with a withdrawal form which may be obtained in the guidance office. All lunchroom fees must be paid, all library books, and all textbooks must be returned. The school will not transfer records to any other school unless all debts have been cleared.
