BCS Virtual Learning Program

Dear Parents and Families,

This is an incredibly difficult time for our community, and we are so proud of all the ways we have come together already. In the spirit of getting started and learning together, our first day of virtual learning activities will start district-wide on August 3rd. This week, families can expect:

1.  Opportunities to Connect:
    • Teachers will connect with students by email and Microsoft Teams on the computer.
      • August 3rd, teachers will connect with students to greet them and verify that the connections are working on both sides.
    • All students will have a district email address.  It will be important for students and parents to access this mail daily.
    • Teachers will provide feedback on student work completion for the week.
    • Parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers and principals with questions or requests for additional support.  Please contact your school’s Virtual Learning Coordinator at your home school.  Your district contact is Tiffany Swain at 684-3284, Extension 2212.

2.  Opportunities to Learn: Schools will distribute assignment overviews for the month. These documents will include the following information for families and students:
    • Assignments for the month that parallel the classroom instruction.
    • Any technology considerations and suggestions
    • There will be a virtual PowerPoint on how to access all programs for your student.
    • Information on how you’ll receive feedback on your work from your teacher will also be in this presentation.

More Information: To find information on how your student connects to his or her class, please go to the Bedford County Schools website ( Under the departments tab, you fill find a link to the Virtual Learning Program. We will be posting a great deal of helpful information there, including a FAQ section.
4.  Student e-mail: Every K-12 student will be issued an e-mail address for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents will need to check this account with their students. This will be a direct point of contact from the school system to your family.
    • To find your child’s Microsoft 365 account, please log in to the Skyward student portal. Directions for how to find the student e-mail address are available on the Virtual Learning Program page of our website.
    • To access the email, please log in to Classlink (, using the email address and password found in Skyward. Once in ClassLink, click on the Office 365 link. From there, students will click on Outlook to view e-mail.
