Deadline Extension: Applications for TDOE Engagement Councils
Contact: Scott.Meltzer@tn.gov

Engagement councils provide the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) and commissioner of education with input, recommendations, and outreach from a range of education stakeholders. The deadline for applications for the School District Foundation Engagement Council, Parent Engagement Council, and Student Engagement Council has been extended until June 11th at 5:00 p.m. CT.

  • School District Foundation Engagement Council: The School District Foundation Engagement Council provides the commissioner and TDOE with input from school districts foundations from across the state focused on philanthropy and volunteerism meeting the academic, student readiness, and educator needs of their local community.
  • Parent Engagement Council: The Parent Engagement Council is designed to provide the commissioner and TDOE with input from parents/guardians to support academic achievement, student readiness, and postsecondary and career readiness across the state.
  • Student Engagement Council: The Student Engagement Council provides the commissioner and TDOE with input from 11th and 12th grade students to support academic achievement, student readiness, and postsecondary and career readiness across the state.
Each of these Councils meet monthly to discuss progress, review next steps, outreach, make recommendations and collect feedback on implementation of Best for All and TDOE initiatives. Information on the purpose and membership is included in the above hyperlinks for each engagement council. For additional information, contact Scott Meltzer.
