Benefit of Hope

In the fall of 2022, motivated by multiple mental-health related tragedies of school-age children in the county, the Youth Leadership Bedford Class of 2023 decided to do something. They chose to organize an effort to help remove the stigma surrounding mental health, to bring awareness to the resources available, and to raise money for counseling services grants. In the spring of 2023, this group of 20 students and their three adult leaders hosted a benefit called the Benefit for Hope that raised over $30,000. These funds are being used for Bedford County individuals, 21 years of age and under, who are seeking counseling services. Funds will be administered on an as needed basis as determined by an approved mental health services provider.
