Bedford County Schools has completed its full-scale emergency preparedness drill. Today’s exercise helped strengthen safety plans and improve coordination with emergency responders. 

💡 Reminder: There was no real emergency—this was a planned drill. No students were in school today due to a scheduled staff development day. 

Please Note: In a real emergency, there won’t be time to update your child’s pickup arrangements. Please make sure your child's Skyward information is up to date with approved pickup contacts now to avoid any delays. Your child’s safety is our priority—thank you for your help! 💙

Our full-scale emergency preparedness drill is currently underway across Bedford County Schools. This drill allows staff and first responders to practice and improve safety procedures in the event of a real emergency. 

This is only a drill—no actual emergency is taking place. No students are in school today due to a scheduled staff development day.

[12:48 PM, Fri., 3/7/2025] Reunification Information – What to Do in a Real Emergency:   

Reminder - Today’s emergency preparedness drill is just a drill. However, we want families to be prepared for what to expect in a real emergency requiring school evacuation and parent/caregiver pickup. No students are in school today due to a scheduled staff development day.  

If this were a real emergency, BCS would provide instructions regarding the reunification of parents and caregivers with their child. This information will be provided on the BCS website, on WLIJ 98.7 FM, and on BCS social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram and X.  

To check in and pick up your child, you would need to bring: 

A valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, government-issued ID, etc.)

Emergency Drill in Progress: Bedford County Schools is conducting a full-scale emergency preparedness drill today in collaboration with law enforcement, first responders, and Homeland Security. This is only a drill. If you notice emergency activity near our schools, there is no cause for concern. Reminder: No students are in school today due to a scheduled staff development day.
