Hello, I'm Dr. Tammy Garrett superintendent of schools in Bedford County. We're excited that the Tennessee Department of Education has recognized us as a Best for All district. This means that we've designated historic amounts of federal funding directly to student achievement which will have a very positive outcome for all of our students. It's a critical time in education, one in which we are committed to strategic spending. Here in Bedford County we have done thoughtful planning and we are committed to student-first investments for our funding and our time. As supervisor of federal programs for Bedford County Schools, my job is to make sure that elementary and secondary school emergency relief funds, or ESSER funds, are invested in mission critical initiatives that most benefit students and are most likely to boost student achievement. This is being done, amongst other things, with high dosage, low ratio tutoring. We're investing over eight million dollars this year and next for tutors to support our students. What's best for our students is best for Bedford County Schools. The Best for All award shows we put our students first. As a member of the police force, my job is to create a better quality of life for our citizens and visitors. As a member of the school board my job is similar - to make decisions that will benefit our students quality of life. Best for All recognizes and celebrates this. In Bedford County we're dedicated to promoting a vibrant local economy, strong neighborhoods, high quality of life, a thriving downtown, and a great education for our kids. We're proud of our partner Bedford County Schools and congratulate them on their Best for All award. They're truly making Bedford County better for all of us. At the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, we are making higher education more accessible for people in our area. Strong partners like Bedford County Schools helps make this possible. We are excited to hear they have been awarded the Best for All district award, and we are so excited to continue working with them to help more students achieve their career goals in our area. When recruiting business and industry to the area, one of the critical areas they look at is the local school system. Employers want to know that their employees will be taken care of in the community and good schools are top priority. Congratulations, Bedford County Schools, on being awarded Best for All distinction by the state of Tennessee Department of Education.
