English Learners
All ESL teachers shall have a valid ESL license endorsement equipping them to teach English Learners. All paraprofessionals shall pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) test assessing their fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English. All Bedford County Schools teacher applicants shall complete an extensive application answering questions that assess their ability to read and write English proficiently. Selected teacher applicants shall be interviewed by building level administrators answering questions which assess their listening and speaking skills. These four skills are valid and necessary for working with English Learners.
