Recently, students at #CascadeHighSchool in Mr. Calvert and Mr. Simmons’ #WorldHistory classes turned back the clock to the 19th century with a Berlin Conference Simulation. ⏳📖
Stepping into the roles of world leaders 👑🌍, #students debated 🗣️, bargained 🤝 and mapped out land claims in Africa 🗺️. The classroom buzzed with diplomacy, strategy and spirited discussion ⚖️✍️ as history unfolded before their eyes.
This hands-on experience gave students more than just knowledge of the past 📚 — it brought them face-to-face with the lasting impact of imperialism 🌐 and the complexities of global decision-making 🧩. A powerful reminder that history isn’t just in books — it’s alive, complex and still shaping our world today.

Recently, #CascadeHighSchool #FCCLA members rolled up their sleeves to make a difference! 💪❤️ Together with the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace, they spent Saturday morning building beds for local children who don’t have one of their own.
These beds mean more than just a good night’s sleep—they bring comfort, security and dignity to kids right here in our community. 🛏️💤
As Sleep in Heavenly peace reminds us: “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!” And thanks to the hard work of our amazing #students, more children will now have a safe place to rest their heads. 🌟
We are so proud of these FCCLA members for living out the values of service, leadership and compassion. What an incredible way to give back!💕🫶

Yesterday, #CascadeHighSchool’s #FFA hosted a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the lives lost and the first responders who showed extraordinary courage on September 11, 2001. The event highlighted service, community and resilience—values that continue to define our nation.
Through remembrance, we honor the past and carry forward the legacy of bravery and compassion. As we reflect together, we are reminded of the strength found in unity and the importance of supporting one another every day.

🥚🔬 Biology in Action at Shelbyville Central High School!🔬🥚
Recently, #students in instructor Justin Theodos' Biology classroom at #ShelbyvilleCentralHighSchool explored cell transport using whole eggs! First, they placed eggs in a liquid to remove the shell, creating shell-less eggs that act like real cells with selectively permeable membranes. Over several days, students placed the eggs in different liquids and measured changes in weight and circumference to see how substances move across the membrane—just like in real cells.📏⚖️
Through this hands-on experiment, students witnessed osmosis💧—the movement of water from areas of high concentration to low—and diffusion, where substances naturally spread out. They learned how these processes help maintain balance in living organisms. 🔬
Experiments like this make biology tangible, exciting and unforgettable!🔍🧪 They also encourage students to ask questions, make predictions and think like real scientists—skills that will last a lifetime.

🕯❤️Honoring 9/11: A Day of Remembrance🕯❤️
Today, #CommunityHighSchool came together in a powerful tribute to remember the events of September 11, 2001.
Students and staff gathered in the auditorium for a moving program that included:
✨ A guest speaker who shared first-hand experiences from that tragic day
📖 History Club students presenting key moments in remembrance
As the program concluded, #students were given American flags, each one representing a life lost. Together, they placed the flags on the front lawn, creating a field of remembrance for all of the victims.
Following a brief invocation at the flagpole 🙏, the school community returned inside—carrying with them the memory, respect and unity that 9/11 represents. ❤️🤍💙
We are grateful to everyone who took part in honoring this day and ensuring its significance lives on through #education, remembrance and reflection. 🌟

🌟 Student Voices in Action! 🌟
Yesterday, the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council visited the Central Office to share their perspectives directly with Dr. Tammy Garrett, Superintendent, Mr. Tim Harwell, Assistant Superintendent, and Carol Garrette, Director of Communications.
This incredible #student group advocates for their peers, provides insight on district issues and helps shape solutions to challenges in Bedford County Schools. Their input ensures that #student voices are at the heart of our decisions. 💬✨
We are #BedfordProud to see our students taking such an active role in shaping the future of their schools!

✨ At #ShelbyvilleCentralHighSchool, #NationalHonorSociety students, under the guidance of instructor Claudia House, are already making a BIG impact this year! ✨
During Eagle Time, some #NHS #students are choosing to dedicate their time to projects that spread positivity and kindness across our school and community:
🧣 Knitting scarves to donate to the local soup kitchen
💌 Writing and decorating uplifting notes to brighten hallways during testing
During these times, Ms. House also adds her own thoughtful touch by sharing stress-relief tools on Fridays to help students recharge.
We’re so proud of these students for showing what it means to lead with service, compassion and school spirit.💙💛 Thank you for making SCHS a place where kindness and leadership soar! 🦅
