A generous anonymous donor has transformed #SouthsideElementarySchool’s audio experience by funding a brand-new sound system! 🎤🎶 After the previous system failed during last year’s 5th grade graduation, Michelle Dole turned to DonorsChoose—and a local hero stepped in to make it happen. 💛

🚜🌾Cascade High School FFA Shines in November! 🌾🚜
The #CascadeHighSchool FFA officer team, led by instructor Mike Swafford, recently traveled to Indianapolis, IN, for the 98th National FFA Convention, where members competed in the National FFA Quiz Contest. The chapter was recognized as a 3-Star National Chapter Award winner, and five members, Laurel Cox, Stacia Bowen, Madison Wilson, Tansi Boyce and Madison Mooningham, all received their American #FFA Degree.
Locally, the officer team attended the Bedford County Farm Bureau Board of Directors meeting and met with Senator Shane Reeves and Bedford County Board of Education Chairman Michael Cook.

The Criminal Justice III students at #CommunityHighSchool, led by Instructor Chris Hobbs, recently visited Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary for an unforgettable learning experience. 🚌🏛️ During the trip, #students gained valuable insight into the realities of incarceration and the lasting impact of poor choices. 🚔 They also explored the duties, challenges and responsibilities of working as a correctional officer — connecting classroom lessons with real-world application. 💼👮♂️

Celebrating Readers at Eakin Elementary!
Students at #EakinElementarySchool are turning the page on a brand-new way to celebrate their love of reading! Thanks to generous donations from the #KiwanisClubOfBedfordCounty and #CooperSteel, the school is now home to a book vending machine — where students can earn special coins to “purchase” a brand-new book to keep. Kiwanis Club bought the machine, and Cooper Steel is stocking the books!
As part of Cooper Steel's reading program, #students were challenged to read 1,000 minutes to earn their first vending coin. Their hard work and dedication paid off and the excitement on their faces as they selected their books said it all! A heartfelt #ThankYou goes out to the Kiwanis Club and Cooper Steel for their generous support and commitment to fostering a love of literacy. What a spooktacular celebration of school spirit and community at #SouthsideElementarySchool! This year’s Salamander Sprint Fundraiser was filled with excitement as #students ran in costumes, cheered each other on and celebrated their fundraising success. 👻🎽
Every #student enjoyed a victory lap, and those who raised additional funds earned extra fun — from a bubble lap to silly stringing a teacher of their choice! 🎈 Students also earned prizes like popcorn, snow cones and Halloween treat bags. 🍿🍧🎃 The school’s top two sellers will even get to serve as Principal or Assistant Principal for the Day! 👩🏫👨🏫
