The Cascade High School Marching Band kicked off competition season recently at the Stones River Championship at Siegel High School, bringing their “Saddle Up!” show to the field and earning several honors along the way! 🏆

The Shelbyville Central High School Golden Eagles marching band recently competed at the Columbia Invitational Marching Competition, earning 1st place in Band and Percussion and 2nd place in Color Guard in Class AA!
Among all 18 bands competing, the Golden Eagles also earned:

This school year, students at Harris Middle School are making time for something that matters: reading! Through Oh D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read), students pause what they’re doing at that time and spend time reading.
Taking time to read each week is helping emphasize the importance of literacy and the many ways reading supports #students both in and out of the classroom. 📖
Bonus: Bridge Bedford and Communications Director Carol Garrette were invited to take part in the celebrations, sharing rewards with students for their focused reading.
And the love of reading doesn’t have to stop at school! Families can help build strong readers by making time for reading at home, talking about what they’re reading and showing students that reading is something worth making time for.

Former Community High School Criminal Justice #student Max Hinojosa is now serving as a deputy with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department!
During his time as a Criminal Justice student, Mr. Hinojosa was also one of the founding members of the Criminal Justice Student Organization, which began at Shelbyville Central High School before expanding to Community High School.
His experience in the classroom gave him opportunities to explore the field of criminal justice and gain experiences that could help prepare him for a career in law enforcement. Today, he is putting that passion and preparation into action as a deputy.

Students experienced history up close as they learned about blacksmithing 🔨, mule and donkey care 🫏, traditional homesteading skills 🌾, honeybees 🐝 and music 🎶. They even enjoyed ice cream churned by a mule! 🍦
This hands on experience gave students a unique opportunity to learn beyond the classroom while gaining a deeper appreciation for the traditions and history that helped shape our community. 💛
