In Ms. Caren Fisher’s 8th grade science class at Harris Middle School, students are taking Newton’s 2nd Law out of the textbook and putting it to the test!
Using hands-on lab materials from Vanderbilt University, students used K’Nex cars powered by twisted rubber bands to investigate how changes in force and mass affect acceleration.
Through testing and observation, #students gathered evidence to better understand the relationship between force, mass and acceleration.
Learning science is more than just knowing the laws. It’s about testing them, observing them and seeing them in action! 🚗💨

Students from across #BedfordCountySchools recently came together for a meaningful project that combined research, service and a commitment to honoring those who have served our country. 📚🎓
Shelbyville Central High School’s National Honor Society, #HOSA and Criminal Justice organizations, along with Cascade High School’s #CriminalJustice organizations, gathered information on veterans buried at Hillcrest Cemetery. 🇺🇸
As part of the project, #students documented veterans’ names, dates of birth and death, military branches, ranks, wars served and service medals and accommodations. 📝🎖️
The information gathered will assist the local Defenders of Freedom Organization with projects such as Wreaths Across America, which honors veterans by placing wreaths on the graves of servicemembers. 🇺🇸🪖
Through this experience, students learned more about military service, including different branches and ranks, while helping preserve the stories of veterans in their own community. Most importantly, they had the opportunity to honor the men and women who served our country. 🇺🇸❤️

Today, our #students had the opportunity to experience the impact of mentorship through Cooper Steel's Twelve12 Legacy program, now in its fourth year.
Through this program, high school students mentor elementary students, focusing on academic growth, character development and the values of hard work, kindness and integrity. 🤝🌟 These meaningful connections give students the opportunity to encourage one another, recognize their potential and build relationships that can make a lasting difference.
To celebrate the students participating in the program, Cooper Steel hosted a special luncheon sponsored by #RowdyRanch 🍽️ and welcomed Rick Barnes, University of Tennessee Men’s Basketball Head Coach, to share an inspiring message with students. 🏀🧡
As Barnes reminded students, “This program gives you one thing. There’s nothing greater than the gift of giving.” 💫

#Students learned how to create edible garnishes using a variety of ingredients, including oranges, chocolate, strawberries and more, while discovering how to choose the right garnish to complement a dish and enhance its overall presentation. 🎨✨
