Every #student has something that makes them uniquely special, and Mrs. Chasity Stewart’s 3rd grade ELA students at Eakin Elementary School are taking time to celebrate those things! ✨

#Students are practicing their writing skills by reflecting on what they love most about themselves and sharing the qualities and strengths that make them who they are. Their thoughtful reflections, paired with black-and-white portraits, are now on display, creating a beautiful reminder that every student has something special to celebrate. 🖤🤍

📢 For SACP Families

If you use Bedford County Schools’ School Age Care Program (SACP) for childcare, we want to let you know that SACP rates will increase beginning October 19.

We understand that any tuition increase affects families, and this was carefully considered. The cost of operating SACP has increased, including staff pay, food and snacks, supplies, transportation, field trips, and equipment. The updated rates will help us continue providing safe, dependable care from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. before and after school, during school breaks, and throughout the summer - without reducing services or eliminating full-day care.

Families will continue to be charged only for the days their child attends.

Eakin Elementary School's fourth graders are discovering the power of choosing a word to guide their school year! After reading One Word for Kids: A Great Way to Have Your Best Year Ever, students learned about a special challenge: find one word that will help you have your best year yet. 📚✨

With the guidance of their Teacher Christa Tidwell, students chose words that inspire them, from “Kind” to “Positive” to "Creative" and beyond! 💛

But that’s not all these fourth graders are learning! They’re also diving into the writing process by breaking down the different parts of an essay through a colorful “Painted Essay.” 🎨📝 Using colors to identify each part, students are making writing engaging and easier to understand while exploring the difference between literal and figurative language.

One student even shared his essay’s “Hook,” which Ms. Tidwell selected as one of the best in the class! 👏

This is what makes public schools so special—students are encouraged to think deeply, express themselves creatively, discover their strengths, and learn from one another. At #EakinElementarySchool, learning is about so much more than a grade; it’s about growing into confident, thoughtful, lifelong learners! ❤️💙

Recently, school counselors and school social workers from across Bedford County Schools came together for a collaborative meeting focused on professional learning and student support.📚

As part of the meeting, staff completed Child Abuse Coordinator Training, strengthening their knowledge and preparedness to help protect and support #students when it matters most.

Today, #students, staff and teachers at Eakin Elementary School celebrated International Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot and its message about creativity, confidence and the courage to make your mark.
