Fourteen seniors from Shelbyville Central High School recently took part in the inaugural Band of Blue Day at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), giving them the opportunity to experience game day from a whole new perspective!
The seniors rehearsed with the Band of Blue, watched the Raider Walk, cheered on the team and then joined the Band of Blue on the field for the halftime performance.
And then came the moment they won’t soon forget! 🏟️🎶 After performing at halftime, the seniors rushed to the front of the field alongside the Band of Blue as they played the MTSU Fight Song!
Even better, SCHS and MTSU share the same Fight Song, making the experience even more special. 💙🎺
What a way to make memories during senior year! ✨

Students in Mr. Chris Hobbs’ Criminal Justice-III class at Community High School recently learned how investigators can preserve evidence left behind at a crime scene through casting.
Through this hands-on experience, #students practiced lifting footprint and tire tread impressions from dirt, sand and snow, gaining hands-on experience with a skill that can help detectives collect and preserve evidence for use in a criminal investigation. 👣🚗

Fifth graders in Mrs. Summer Monroe’s class at East Side Elementary School recently put their decimal skills to work during a hands-on math task! Working in teams, #students tackled a variety of problems involving adding and subtracting decimals before visiting other groups to review their work and provide feedback. 🧮🤝

The #BedfordCountySchools Teach Back Program was recently recognized on the field during an MTSU football game, with Assistant Superintendent Neil Watson joining Teach Back scholars and representatives from the MTSU College of Education for the special recognition. 👏🏈
Through the Tennessee Teach Back Initiative, BCS partners with the MTSU College of Education to recruit and support local high school graduates who want to become teachers. Scholars receive tuition support, mentoring and preparation for their teaching careers, with a commitment to return to Bedford County Schools and serve as educators in the district. 🍎🎓
It’s more than preparing #students for a career. It’s investing in local students so they can return home and make a difference in the classrooms and communities that helped shape them. 🫶

#Students practiced using the distributive property of multiplication to break apart larger arrays, or “patients,” into two smaller arrays to find the product.
At four hands-on stations, students used playdough, green tiles, marshmallows, scissors and paper to build their arrays and then “surgically” break them apart. 🧮🔬
