🐾🦒 Learning came to life for Ms. Christle Price’s class at #CommunityMiddleSchool during their exciting recent trip to the Nashville Zoo!

Before their adventure, #students worked in small groups to research two zoo animals of their choice over the course of three weeks. Each group became “animal experts” and shared their discoveries with the class through creative presentations, including a fun “Family Feud” style game and engaging PowerPoints! 🎉📚

When the big day arrived, students couldn’t wait to spot the animals they had studied so closely. From preparation to presentation to exploration at the Zoo, this hands-on learning experience was unforgettable! 🐘🐒🦩

We are so proud of these students’ hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm for learning!💜💛

✨Celebrating 250 Years of America Across BCS Schools✨

As part of the districtwide BCS America 250 Celebration (May 4 – May 15, 2026), and under the theme “Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” 📚✨ schools are participating in a tiered engagement structure (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) designed to encourage flexible levels of student involvement.

In support of the Bronze Level engagement, students in Brynn Elliott's History Club at #CommunityHighSchool collaborated to create a timeline of American history from 1607–2025, successfully completing the Bronze requirement. This project highlights meaningful student learning in history, research and civic engagement 🏛️📖

The America 250 Celebration marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding and provides opportunities for #students to connect with history, civic responsibility and their community. 🤝

Schools are encouraged to participate at the Bronze Level or beyond, with optional Silver and Gold opportunities available for those wishing to deepen engagement. 🌟

We appreciate the efforts of our students and staff in bringing this districtwide celebration to life. 🎉

Collaboration, creativity and a little monster magic made for a memorable learning experience! 👾📚✨

Recently, Misty Thompson’s first grade class at #CommunityElementarySchool teamed up with Cindy Friendman’s students at #CommunityHighSchool for a cross-grade project centered around friendly monsters. After listening to stories about friendly monsters, the first graders designed their own characters and wrote creative stories to match.🎨✏️

Using the students’ templates, Mrs. Friedman’s class brought the monsters to life by creating stuffed versions of each design 🧵🪡. The excitement continued when they visited the first graders to personally deliver the handmade stuffies 🤝💛. #Students then read their stories aloud and compared their creations to the finished stuffed monsters, each one uniquely matched their original designs!

This project showcased creativity, #teamwork and meaningful connections between students of all ages 🌟👏. Check out these wonderful moments and friendly monsters!

Leadership in action! 👏⚖️

The #CommunityHighSchool Criminal Justice Student Organization recently conducted leadership interviews for the 2026–2027 school year. Students applying for #leadership positions were evaluated on professionalism, attire, content knowledge, decision-making skills and ethics by a panel of professionals representing a variety of career fields. 💼📋

This valuable experience provided #students with real-world interview practice and professional development opportunities to help prepare them for future careers in criminal justice and beyond. 🚔⭐

Special thanks to the interview panel:

• Officer Cobye Hernandez – Shelbyville Police Department 👮
• Isabella Schlatter – President of C.J.S.O.

🌟 Celebrating excellence and student leadership at Cartwright Elementary!

#CartwrightElementarySchool stands among a select group, one of only 11 schools in Tennessee to receive the STEAM designation this year, and just 144 out of approximately 1,900 schools statewide to earn this distinction. This recognition highlights a strong commitment to innovative, hands-on learning.📚✨

That learning is also showing up in meaningful #student work. Fifth grade #students have been engaged in a project-based learning experience centered on kindness, collaboration and community. As part of their work, they created a kindness banner that is now proudly displayed and available for students and staff to sign.

It says: "At Cartwright Elementary, we lift each other up with KIND words and helping HANDS!" Principal Whitney Yoes and Assistant Principal Malcolm Martin kicked things off this morning by signing the banner first!

Together, these experiences reflect a school culture where academic growth and character development go hand in hand.🌱💫
