🌎🌿 Bringing Habitats to Life! 🌿🌎

Students at #CommunityElementarySchool's Summer Learning Camp recently showcased their learning through a habitat unit project.

After exploring different habitats, #students created dioramas featuring their favorite habitat and wrote about the plants and animals that call it home. 🦊🌵🐠🌳

By combining research, writing and creativity, students demonstrated their understanding of habitats while expressing what they learned in a meaningful way. ✨

These engaging learning experiences reflect how public schools encourage students to explore concepts, apply their knowledge and grow through hands-on learning. 🌟

🎒✨ A Great Start to Kindergarten!

Across #BedfordCountySchools, Kinder Camp recently gave our newest #students the opportunity to build confidence, learn classroom routines, make new friends and get excited for their first day of Kindergarten this August! 🍎📚

Our elementary schools loved welcoming these future learners and helping them get a great head start for the school year. We can't wait to see all they accomplish as they begin this exciting new chapter. Here's to a fantastic first year of learning and growing! ❤️💙

⭐Our Maintenance Grounds Crew Goes Red, White & Blue!❤️🤍💙

Our Maintenance department grounds crew recently showed off their patriotic spirit as they celebrated America’s 250th birthday!🎆

While our schools are quiet for summer break ☀️, this hardworking team is behind the scenes keeping our campuses looking their best 🌿 and preparing them for the year ahead. Their dedication never takes a break, and neither does their school spirit! ⭐

Thank you to our grounds crew for all you do and for bringing a little extra red, white and blue pride to BCS!👏✨

🚛💨 Big trucks, big learning, and big smiles at #ThomasMagnetSchool's Summer Learning Camp!

Students had a wheel-y exciting day as representatives from #TitanTransfer trucking stopped by to share what it takes to keep America moving. Campers learned how trucks transport freight across the country and discovered the many careers that make the trucking industry successful - from drivers to dispatchers and beyond.

The highlight of the visit? Students got the chance to climb inside the cab of a real semi-truck for an up-close look at life on the road!

Hands-on experiences like these help students connect classroom learning to real-world careers while sparking curiosity about their futures. That's one of the many reasons we love our public schools - they create meaningful opportunities that inspire students to dream big!

🌋🍦 Science, creativity and sweet rewards recently made for an unforgettable day at #LearningWayElementarySchool's #SummerLearningCamp!

Ms. Greenwood's rising 3rd grade class put their STREAM skills to work by creating homemade volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar before cooling off with homemade ice cream in a bag, thanks to the help of Summer Learning Camp Coordinator Ms. Presley!

Even more special, these hands-on learning experiences were made possible using items donated through our Summer Learning Camp Wish List. Thank you to our generous community supporters for investing in our students and helping bring learning to life. Your kindness is making a real difference!

Public schools thrive when schools and communities work together, and we're so grateful for everyone who helps make opportunities like these possible for our students. ❤️💙

Safety, trust and community connections were front and center at #ThomasMagnetSchool's Summer Learning Camp! 🚓💙

A big thank you to Officer Brown with the #BedfordCountySheriffsDepartment for visiting students to share important lessons about staying safe and building strong "trust triangles" - helping children recognize the trusted adults they can turn to when they need help.

Students also enjoyed a special visit from Officers Horner and Owens of the #ShelbyvillePoliceDepartment, who introduced everyone to K-9 Officer Trigger! Trigger was a big hit as students learned about the important role police dogs play in keeping our communities safe.

Experiences like these are just one of the many reasons public schools are so special. By partnering with local law enforcement, BCS gives students meaningful opportunities to learn, ask questions and build positive relationships with the people who serve and protect our community.

🌿🍍 Rainforest Learning in Action! 🍍🌿

Rising 2nd graders at #CommunityElementarySchool's Summer Learning Camp have continued their habitat studies by exploring foods that come from the rainforest!

#Students learned about a variety of rainforest products, including bananas, cinnamon, vanilla, pineapples, mangoes, peppers and coffee. ☕🍌

They even sampled fresh pineapple and mango, with pineapple emerging as the favorite fruit! 🍍😄

To bring their learning to life, students also measured ingredients and helped make crockpot banana bread using bananas, cinnamon and vanilla extract, all ingredients that all originate from rainforest regions. 🍞✨

Through hands-on activities like tasting and cooking, students are building connections between habitats, food sources and the world around them. 🌎
